Welcome to the complex biological systems group

Dr. Franziska Matthäus
Center for Modeling and Simulation in the Biosciences (BIOMS)
University of Heidelberg

Our group is interested in complex biological systems, including
  • cellular motion and its regulation by internal signaling pathways
  • complex network applications & neuropathological diseases
We are approaching these systems using
  • mathematical models based on ordinary and partial differential equations
  • cellular automata
  • theory of complex networks
  • data analysis methods (image processing, pattern identification, network generation, etc.)
Our work is purely theoretical. But since the questions we try to answer are of biological nature, our mathematical and computational approaches are developed in tight collaboration with experimental partners.
