Research

I am a member of the group of Prof. Jäger and I am working in a project in cooperation with the Toyota Central Research and Development Labs in Japan. Further participants of the project are Jan Rübel and Jens Starke.

In my part I am dealing with design optimization of rotating engine parts. Based upon a suitable finite element model, appropriate design variables are chosen to change the shape of the rotor and optimization problems are formulated. The main interest lies in the reduction of the vibration level caused by unbalance and oil film forces. The problems are solved by algortihms belonging to the class of sequential convex programming.
