In this seminar we want to treat several famous classical papers from the area of Numerical Analysis. Following an idea of Prof. L. N. Trefethen we want to analyze in every meeting one paper under two aspects: The speaker should address the mathematical content of the paper, and additionally give background information on the author(s) and the historical context of the paper.

The papers will be chosen at the preliminary meeting (based on the interests of the participants). Your own suggestions are most welcome.
